Introducing B.E.A.R.

B.E.A.R., aka Beep Boop

Hello everyone! Today we’re introducing one of our most recent characters in Shot One, B.E.A.R. (Bio Empathetic Assistance Robot) - A piece of old world tech that was salvaged by Volley and repurposed from the wastes. A sidekick of sorts and a companion to Volley and the crew, B.E.A.R. will be an assistant throughout the story mode and communicate vital information to the player. While we originally wanted a more detached narrator, the idea of a dynamic assistant that would chum it up with his quippy remarks became more appealing over time.

We employed the help of Cameron Sewell to help us bring B.E.A.R. to life, and with his amazing attention to detail he was able to bring our retrotech vision of him to life. Our universe is a post-apocalyptic one in a sense, and as a result the tech progression level was frozen in time. As a result, all our ships and tech have a touch of retrofuturistic style to them. So B.E.A.R. was styled after those chunky retro CRT screens.
